Biosafety / Bloodborne Pathogens / Viral Vectors / Biotoxins Training
This course is designed for individuals who are working at Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) with microorganisms (pathogenic viruses, bacteria, fungi or parasites), human blood, cell lines, or other potentially infectious human materials. The course will introduce key concepts in biological safety, biological exposure emergency response and prevention strategies against laboratory-acquired infectious diseases..
From 9:30 am to 11:00 am, basic Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogens training will be offered followed by more lab specific training including a 45 minute training on viral vectors (Lentivirus, AAV, etc.) and 30 minute training on biological toxins. Not all students will need the full complement of training. If all modules are required, the training is scheduled for 9:30 am to 1:00 PM. Regardless of number of modules, the session starts at 9:30 am for all students.
