Comprehensive Biosafety (BSL2) Training
All employees and researchers planning to work at Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) with microorganisms (pathogenic viruses, bacteria, fungi or parasites), human blood, cell lines, or other potentially infectious human materials must complete the relevant portions of this training. This course also covers BSL1 training. Initial and refresher training is documented in the MyLearn database. Note: This course used to be named "Biosafety/Bloodborne Pathogens/ViralVectors/Biotoxin Training."
This course includes three (3) separate trainings. Individuals should attend the portions of the course that are required for their work.
- Biosafety/BSL2 Training: For all employees and researchers planning to work with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) materials. (All employees and researchers planning to work with Biosafety Level 1 (BSL1) materials only must complete Basic Principles of Biosafety (BSL1) training instead.)
- Bloodborne Pathogens: For all employees and researchers planning to work with human cells, blood, tissues, or other potentially infectious material (OPIM).
- Viral Vectors: For all employees and researchers planning to work with viral vectors (i.e. AAV, Lentivirus, Murine Retrovirus).
Topics include:
- Key concepts in biological safety
- Biological exposure emergency response
- Prevention strategies against laboratory-acquired infectious diseases
