COVID-19 Guidance for Researchers

As laboratories transition to closure in light of COVID-19 restrictions, the following considerations should be taken into account on the disposal of hazardous chemical waste.

Scheduled Waste Pickups:

● If the research lab space presently is scheduled on a regular hazardous waste pickup, please follow your regular procedure to place items in your Satellite Accumulation Areas in the lab.

Non-Scheduled Waste Pickups:

● If the research lab space presently is not scheduled on a regular hazardous waste pickup, or you require a special pickup, please follow procedures to set up an AIM request online for the pick-up.

Waste Tags:

● Please remember to fill out waste tags appropriately with the top two chemical constituents that identify the chemical properties.

Unknowns:

● Please store unknown items appropriately and safely. We will manage these issues when research operations are restored. As a note, if you place them in the hazwaste Satellite Accumulation Area it will be left behind in your lab.

As laboratories transition to closure in light of recent COVID-19 restrictions, the folowing considerations should be taken into account on the disposal of biological hazardous waste. This references all RED BAG WASTE, BIOHAZWASTE PIPETTE RED BAGGED LINED CANS, SHARPS CONTAINERS, AND YELLOW PHARMA COLLECTION BOXES ONLY.

Scheduled Waste Pickups:

● If the research lab space presently is scheduled on a regular biohazardous waste pickup, please follow your regular procedure to place items in the appropriate waste pick up areas.

Non-Scheduled Waste Pickups:

● If the research lab space presently is not scheduled on a regular hazardous waste pickup, or you require a special pickup, please follow procedures to set up an AIM request online for the pickup. Place the waste in your normal pick up areas.
